UNSUSPECTING CANDIDATE - After the abandonment of Mike White due to other professional commitments, the Lionsgate threw herself into the search for a new director to whom she could assign the camera of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, film adaptation of the crazy parody-horror novel Pride And Prejudice And Zombies. by Seth Grahame-Smith. However, an insistent rumor began to circulate on the net about the candidacy in the project of Christopher Smith, director of Creep - The Surgeon (2004), Severance - Staff Cuts (2006) and of the unpublished (unfortunately) in Italy Triangle. Releasing an exclusive interview with colleagues from Bloody Disgusting, Smith commented on the fact, confessing that he knew absolutely nothing about the possibility of being hired:
"There is a rumor on the net-which I know exactly what everyone knows about-that I am the first candidate for [direct] Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, and actually I would like to [shooting this film]. But no one knows if this will ever really happen. Nevertheless, it's the kind of thing I love. It's a nice 'mix' -- it's the kind of movie that always proves to be outstanding because it has interesting elements in it. That's why we like them -- because they're not just serial killer movies, they're . Nightmare - From the Depths Of The Night is a film orbiting around the figure of a serial killer, but when you watch it for the first time you find it great because it has to do with dreams, and that is something new. That's when movies turn out to be the best, in my opinion.".
So, from the words of Smith we learn that the director would be more than happy to take over directing duties in the crazy Pride & Prejudice & Zombies of Lionsgate, but who beyond the rumors circulating on the net is not even aware that he is a candidate for the project! Another name named by the same "rumors" for directing the horror parody is that of Neill Marshall (The Descent, Centurion), director and great friend of Smith. In this regard, Christopher he said:
"The strange thing is that I got to talk about this film with Neill Marshall a few weeks before Mike White dropped out, precisely because I knew Neill was connected and interested in the project. And the next day I find on the Internet 'Chris Smith is a candidate for Pride & Prejudice & Zombies'! Really, I had to call Neill Marshall and say 'Hey Neill! I don't know anything about this at all! I'm not under contract, nor am I trying to get signed!'".
Summing up, Smith might actually be on the list of the Lionsgate as a possible director of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies But, in this regard, he knows nothing about it, and the same goes for Neill Marshall. However, this does not mean that the director of Severance do not interest this opportunity:
"I talked to a journalist two days ago and he wrote on the Internet, 'Chris Smith is not interested in Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.' No, that's not true".
