La notizia della morte di Christopher Lee ha gettato nello sconforto milioni di fan che lo hanno sempre considerato un mostro sacro del cinema di genere ma non soltanto. In seguito a recenti news riportanti la falsa morte dell'attore e diffusesi in rete a macchia d'olio, oggi circola, purtroppo, quella che ne attesta il decesso. Pare infatti che Christopher Lee fosse ricoverato da giorni in ospedale e che proprio lì abbia festeggiato il suo 93esimo compleanno (27 maggio).
La morte dell'icona horror risale alle ore 8:30 di domenica 7 giugno, notizia che è trapelata solo qualche ora fa per decisione della moglie Birgit che ha preferito informare i parenti stretti prima di rendere nota la notizia del decesso del marito. Christopher Lee era stato ricoverato tre settimane fa al Chelsea and Westminster Hospital di Londra in seguito a problemi respiratori aggravatisi poi con un'insufficienza cardiaca.
Having become famous by playing the role of Count Dracula in Hammer-branded films, Lee continued his career in the film world, carrying a growing and interminable filmography containing some 280 titles, until he became one of the most cited actors of all time. We remember him not only in the eleven films in which he plays Dracula, but also in other titles, such as in his first performance in the Hammer film The Mask of Frankenstein (1957) where he plays the creature Dr. Frankenstein, The Wicker Man 1973, The Man With The Golden Gun 1974, Star Wars Where he played Count Dooku, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit as Saruman. We also find him in a small cameo in Dark Shadows by Tim Burton.
As he himself stated in one of his last interviews, for him filmmaking was not a job but his life. Witness to this is his extensive film career spanning from 1948 to 2014, through which we were able to get to know and appreciate him.

Christopher Lee also collaborated as narrator with Rhapsody of Fire and Manowar and was involved in two metal projects in which he was the lead singer: "Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross" and "Charlemagne: The Omens of Death." These were also joined by EPs of covers.
Curiosities: Christopher Lee worked for Tim Burton in 2012 with a cameo in Dark Shadows. Anche Vincent Price, altra icona dell'horror gotico, collaborò con Tim Burton nel 1990 per Edward Scissorhands. Both actors died within three years of working with the director.
