RUMOR AND CONTROVERSY - Let's go back to talking about the casting of the The Black Tower, future film/TV franchise based on the novel series of the same name by Stephen King. Apparently, to the list of candidates for the role of Roland Deschain, so far consisting of the big names of Javier Bardem (favored by production) and Viggo Mortensen (production's second choice, but favored by fans of the literary series), a third possible actor has just been added. New York Post learned through an “unspecified source” (reason why we are talking about rumor) that the following is also currently in contention Christian Bale, possibly willing to join the set jousted by Ron Howard as soon as he has finished fulfilling the contract that binds him to The Dark Knight Rises by Christopher Nolan. But that's not all! Also according to the New York Post, the production of The Black Tower would have added Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter, Quarantine) to the short list of candidates for the role of Susannah Dean, currently including. Naomie Harris and Ghita Tazi.
Many fans of the series of King sincerely hope that what the NYPost Is disproved as soon as possible:
- Although talented, Christian Bale sports a “good guy” face that has little to do with the one Roland is supposed to have (and in this they are definitely better suited Bardem and Mortensen)
- Susannah Dean is described in the novels as an African-American woman, reasoning that Carpenter represents a wrong, poorly reasoned, unsuitable option
Recall, however, that in the production of the The Black Tower will attend the same King and that, should the nomination of the two actors be confirmed, the writer's opinion will weigh heavily on the final choices (or at least hopefully).
The first film chapter of the The Black Tower is scheduled for May 17, 2013.
