No.Mad Entertainment has just released the Italian trailer for Charlie Says, the film about the Manson Family. Directed by Mary Harron (American Psycho), Charlie Says was screened at the Venice Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival and will debut in Italian theaters on July 4.
The film sheds light on the three women who, having fallen under the influence of Charles Manson, carried out nine murders (including that of Sharon Tate) for him, shocking the U.S. in the summer of 1969. They are Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel and Susan Atkins, who in Charlie Says are played by Hannah Murray, Sosie Bacon and Marianne Rendón, respectively.
Charlie Says is based primarily on the attempt of researcher Karlene Faith (Merritt Wever) to re-educate the three female murderers who had been sentenced to the death penalty (a sentence that was later converted to life imprisonment) for the crimes they committed.
Also in the cast are Suki Waterhouse, Annabeth Gish, Chace Crawford, Kayli Carter, India Ennenga, Kimmy Shields, Bridger Zadina, Marianne Rendóne, and Lindsay Farris. In the role of Charles Manson we find British actor Matt Smith (Doctor Who, Patient Zero) while Grace Van Dien (Patient Seven) is Sharon Tate.
