Image Entertainment releases the official trailer for Camp Dread, making official the first release date for the DVD version that will be available starting April 15.
The film is written and directed by Harrison Smith, a director who has a couple of experiments tangential to the horror genre behind him and who currently sees himself engaged in the post-production of Zombie Killers: Elephant's Graveyard, a work in which the protagonist will be played by Billy Zane, accompanied by Mischa Barton and Dee Wallace.
Camp Dread also enjoys an outstanding cast among whose ranks are the names of Eric Roberts, Danielle Harris (known for taking part in the Halloween franchise and for roles in Urban Legend and the Hatchet series), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Dahmer vs. Gacy), Brian Gallagher (Miss December) and Nicole Cinaglia (Hallows' Eve). Joining them in the lead roles are Kyle Patrick Brennan and Ashley Caspermeyer.
Camp Dread will focus on the misfortunes of director Julian Barrett, known in the 1980s for his genre filmography thanks to the Summer Camp trilogy. Unfortunately, the times have passed and so has the filmmaker's fortunes as he is forced to revisit his own glories.
Determined to bring his series back to life with a reboot, Barrett will reach the location that brought him fame. Together with a dozen or so improvised actors, he will bring the myth's rebirth to life, only to run into the psychotic delusions of a murderer with little interest in film.
