By horror I mean: the docufilm on the masters of Italian horror cinema tomorrow will be presented in La Spezia

Directed by Paola Settimini, the docufilm By horror I mean. (Italy - 2021) will be presented tomorrow, Sept. 7 (9:15 p.m.), at the Don Bosco Cinema in Via Roma, La Spezia. the director will be present at the event along with part of the cast.
Produced by Cut-up Editions, By horror I mean. is the brainchild of Lamberto Bava (Demons, Demons 2... The Nightmare Returns) while the soundtrack is by Claudio Simonetti's Goblin.
The screenplay, on the other hand, is by Katia La Galante and Fulvio Wetzl.

The film has been presented as "a dissertation on fear, its meaning and the way many of the masters of Italian horror cinema have managed to decline this primary feeling into works that have become immortal."
The story of By horror I mean. opens with a terrified boy fleeing into the woods pursued by a figure dressed in black. Immediately afterwards, the film goes down the documentary route by analyzing the glorious Italian horror genre cinema from the 1960s to the 1990s, with never-before-seen interviews with all the main authors, screenwriters, set designers, and musicians of the period (Dario Argento, Cristiana Astori, Pupi Avati, A. Bido, A. Lado, C. Lattanzi, L. Cozzi, F. Barilli, Lamberto Bava, R. Deodato, A. Geleng, Sergio Martino, Manetti Bros, Claudio Simonetti, Fulvio Wetzl).
Film historians Roberto M. Danese and Gianluigi Negri analytically summarize the evolution of the genre.

In the fiction part, shot by Paola Settimini in various locations in the picturesque Lunigiana, there are cameos by Italian actors Matteo Taranto (Razzabastarda) and Roberto Bocchi (Il giorno più bello del mondo).
