Despite the bans dictated by the current pandemic, some productions have not stopped. Among them is that of Blood red wheat, the new film adaptation of Children of the Corn (1978), the famous short story contained in the collection Sometimes they return by Stephen King.
In fact, filming of the movie is currently underway in Australia.
Produced by Lucas Foster, the new Children of the Corn is directed by Kurt Wimmer. The making of the film was mentioned briefly in an article devoted to cinema during the pandemic that appeared in Hollywood Reporter. The article reports that "producer Lucas Foster and director Kurt Wimmer were able to continue filming of Children of the Corn Despite the lockdown measures imposed in Australia on March 23.“.
And again "the filming phase was not interrupted due to outdoor filming, safety protocols, and drastically reducing cast and crew“.
In 1984 Fritz Kiersch directed Blood red wheat, a horror film inspired by Stephen King's short story and part of a franchise consisting of ten chapters.
