RedBloodA terrifying killer, the result of a genetic alteration experiment, escapes from solitary confinement after slaughtering a number of doctors and is on his way to a mansion inside which a paralytic, her brother and baby sitter are targeted...
A priest in his care, meanwhile, alerts the police and sets out on the killer's trail but by then it is too late and first an unsuspecting neighbor, then the baby sitter will be literally mowed down...
Joe D'Amato was one of the great misunderstood authors of our cinema. He was able to range across all genres, but in particular it was to horror that he made his best contribution...
Blood Red (which in the intentions of an early version was to be Anthropophagus 2) is a classic example of how, with few means but a lot of creativity a respectable product can be made. Thanks also to the contribution (here also screenwriter) of the talented character actor (later director of the unhappy DNA-Lethal Formula) Luigi Montefiori.
And this even though, on a deep analysis of the film, what remains in reality is an "even poorer" version of Halloween. Poor in content but abundant in splatter: D'Amato does not skimp on scenes of violence and shows us a sampling of horrors second only to Darkness Omega...
Assistant director (and extra) Michele Soavi who, given the production's financial scarcity, brought and used his motorcycle on the set (in the film he is one of the bikers attacked by the killer).
