Black Phone is the film adaptation of Joe Hill's short story of the same name and stars Ethan Hawke (The Northman), an American actor, screenwriter and director who previously worked with Scott Derrickson on the film Sinister (2012).
The masks worn by Ethan Hawke in Black Phone were designed by renowned U.S. effects designer Tom Savini (Zombie, Friday the 13th, Maniac, Day of the Zombies).
Plot: 13-year-old Finney Shaw is kidnapped by a serial killer (Ethan Hawke) who has already killed several minors. Locked in a soundproof basement, the young boy finds an old disconnected telephone set through which he will be able to hear the voices of his tormentor's victims.
In the cast of Black Phone there are also Jeremy Davies, James Ransone, Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw.
The screenplay for the film was written by Scott Derrickson himself in collaboration with Robert Cargill.
