Universal Pictures has shared the official Italian trailer for Black Phone (USA - 2021), the horror film written and directed by Scott Derrickson, the director of Ultimatum to the earth, Sinister and Deliver us from evil.
Produced by Blumhouse, Black Phone is the film adaptation of Joe Hill's short story of the same name and will debut in U.S. theaters on January 28, 2022.
The film stars Ethan Hawke, here as a sadistic kidnapper and killer of children. Recall that the U.S. actor, screenwriter, and director previously worked with Scott Derrickson on the film Sinister (2012).
James Ransone, Jeremy Davies, Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw complete the cast.
The screenplay, on the other hand, was written by Scott Derrickson himself in collaboration with Robert Cargill.
The story features Finney Shaw, a 13-year-old boy kidnapped by a serial killer who has already killed several minors. Locked in a soundproof basement, the young boy finds an old telephone set, disconnected but able to transmit the voices of the killer's previous victims. During the night, the phone rings and the voices try to help him escape.
The mask worn by Ethan Hawke was designed by renowned U.S. actor and effects designer Tom Savini (Zombies, Friday the 13th, Maniac, Day of the Zombies).
