Black Phone: Ethan Hawke returns in sequel

Last October, the sequel to Black Phone (USA - 2021), the horror film produced by Blumhouse and directed by Scott Derrickson (Ultimatum to Earth, Sinister, Deliver Us from Evil).
Instead, these days Deadline revealed that the cast will include the protagonists of the first installment namely Ethan Hawke, Madeleine McGraw, Mason Thames, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora will return. The website also added that Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have announced that the sequel will be released on June 27, 2025, calling it "the beginning of a sinister new saga."

Black Phone is the film adaptation of Joe Hill's short story of the same name and stars Ethan Hawke (The Northman), an American actor, screenwriter and director who has previously worked with Scott Derrickson in the horror Sinister (2012) and who, in this new film, plays a dangerous psychopath.

Plot: 13-year-old Finney Shaw is kidnapped by a serial killer (Ethan Hawke) who has already killed several minors. Locked in a soundproof basement, the young boy finds an old disconnected telephone set, through which he will be able to hear the voices of his tormentor's victims and who will try to help him.

The cast also includes Jeremy Davies, James Ransone, Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw.
The screenplay for the film was written by Scott Derrickson himself in collaboration with Robert Cargill.
Recall that the masks worn by Ethan Hawke in Black Phone were designed by renowned U.S. effects designer Tom Savini (Zombie, Friday the 13th, Maniac, Day of the Zombies).
