Dario Argento about the film: "BLACK EYES. is a film that I imagined some years ago without being able to make it, but which I never stopped thinking about. The difficulty was related to the market, which was looking for violent and meaningless stories, while I was finally experiencing a phase of reconciliation with my nightmares and had decided to open wide the door of terror and go through it. In fact, BLACK EYES. represents for me the culmination of a path engraved in my destiny as an author influenced since childhood by the tales of Edgar Allan Poe“.
About the protagonist's blindness: "Blindness is a theme I've visited before; I'm fascinated by the idea (when I turn) of communicating that feeling of fragility and panic that dominates the character's beating heart.
I was won over by Ilenia Pastorelli's beauty, but also by the fragility of her appearance that exists in stark contrast to the power of her gaze - a gaze that will change when she has to wear the black glasses in the film“.
Finally, the iconic Silver concludes by presenting. Black glasses as "a very intense Italian-style giallo, where, however, there is a new element compared to my previous films, and that is sentiment and tenderness“.
