Bizarre Italian is the title of an anthology collecting short films of independent horror cinema made in the 1990s. The creator of the project is director Paolo Fazzini (Mad in Italy) in collaboration with Pierpaolo De Iulis. Fazzini has seen fit to offer the public, and especially the genre fanatics, the aforementioned anthology in DVD format.
Films from the 1989-1999 decade shot with few means but with original ideas, titles buried by dust and forgotten in time will thus see the light again thanks to this valuable initiative that will be able to give them the right value by reintroducing them to the market and to collectors.
The idea is to create a proper series consisting of several anthology volumes in order to prevent old independent productions from being lost.
The directors from the 1990s underground scene who were involved in the first volume are: Maurizio Quarta, Paolo Fazzini, Stefano "Uncle Tolo" Barberi, Nicola Lombardi, Marzano Bros, and Giovanni Polesello. Each short film in the anthology will be preceded by an interview with the director.
According to Paolo Fazzini, this anthology should serve as a warning to those in the film industry today who, unlike those who faced a lack of money and means in the past, are now compensating for the dearth of ideas by focusing on technology and financing.
The anthology DVD of Bizarre Italian is produced and distributed by Rave Up Records and is set for release on November 30.
