Bizarre Italian is the title of an anthology that collects independent horror short films made in the 1990s.
Thanks to this project, conceived by director Paolo Fazzini (Mad in Italy) in collaboration with Pierpaolo De Iulis, the most representative short films of that period will be re-released on the market and thus made available to lovers of Italian underground cinema from the 1980s and 1990s.
The first volume (2014) has a total duration of 150 minutes and features the following directors: Stefano “Zio Tolo” Barbieri, Paolo Fazzini, Nicola Lombardi, Marzano Bros., Latino Pellegrini, Giovanni Polesello, Maurizio Quarta, and Max Della Mora.
After decades of obscurity, the films of these directors, who captured their ideas on film without the use of today's convenient digital technologies, will finally see the light of day. One of the objectives of Bizarre Italian is definitely to recover independent productions from the past to prevent them from being lost.
Films shot with zero budget and very few resources will therefore be presented to the public in their simplicity, each preceded by an interview with the director.
