In a Twitter post, Tim Burton shared two photos from the set of Beetlejuice 2 in which Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega, the stars of the film, appear.
Produced by Plan B Entertainment together with Warner Bros, the film is directed by Tim Burton and filming is currently underway in London.
Instead, the release date has been set for September 6, 2024.
The cast includes Winona Ryder again as Lydia Deetz, the character she played in Beetlejuice, the cult film directed by Tim Burton (Batman, Edward Many Scissors) in 1988 and winner of the Best Makeup Oscar.
By his side will still be Michael Keaton and Catherine O'Hara.
The three aforementioned protagonists of the first chapter are joined in Beetlejuice 2 by Jenna Ortega (as Lydia Deetz's daughter), Monica Bellucci (Bram Stoker's Dracula), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse) and Justin Theroux (Joker).
Plot details have not yet been revealed.
The story of Beetlejuice (1988) follows a young married couple who die in a car accident. The two return as ghosts to their old home, which, however, is inhabited by a family of city waifs. After trying to chase them away by scaring them away, the two ghosts ask for help from Beetlejuice, a sympathetic, foul-mouthed, bumbling little spirit who is also prone to vile lusts.
