Bedevil - Don't Install It | Movie Review

Bedevil - Don't install it (USA - 2017), the horror film about the diabolical app, debuted in Italian theaters last June 28 and is now available for home video in Italy thanks to Midnight Factory. The film marks the directorial debut of the Vang brothers (here on their first feature film after the sci-fi short Sentient) and stars Saxon Sharbino (Poltergeist), Brandon Soo Hoo (From Dusk to Dawn - The Series), Victory Van Tuyl and Alexis G. Zall (Ouija 2).

Bedevil - Don't install it breaks away from the wave of remakes and reboots that emulate and pay homage to past classics to offer a horror film with a current theme. In the Vang brothers' film, it is precisely an evil app that generates terror and death, an app that is symbolic of modern technology but which, like previous devices of the past dealt with in genre cinema (The Ring, The Call...), is capable of triggering a series of ominous situations.
Nourished by the fears of its victims, the evil entity generated by the mobile application materializes by taking on eerie characteristic traits, thereby haunting the protagonists' reality as well.
The abstract haunting app thus gives way to the tangible manifestation of an evil that, through mobile devices, spreads like wildfire.

The Vang brothers thus direct a "technological and modern horror film" that has its strength in the topicality of its theme and in which echoes of oriental cinema and, above all, of It by Stephen King. An exaggerated use of jumpscare might annoy, however Bedevil - Don't install it has its tension-filled moments in which queen is a very captivating demonic figure.

Five teens receive an invitation to download an app called "Bedevil." Once installed, a demonic entity will begin to haunt the group of teens by haunting their homes and causing them to confront their greatest fears. To survive the malevolent supernatural presence, the young people will have to learn to work together, trusting each other.

In the cast of Bedevil - Don't install it there are: Saxon Sharbino, Brandon Soo Hoo, Victory Van Tuyl, Alexis G. Zall, Mitchell Edwards, Bonnie Morgan, Jordan Essoe, Carson Boatman, Robyn Cohen and Kate Orsini.
