These days, the first trailer for the Beau is Afraid (USA - 2023), the new film written and directed by Ari Aster, the director of Hereditary and Midsommar.
Produced by A24, Beau is Afraid is billed as a surreal horror comedy and stars Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix (Masters of the Night, Joker), here as Beau, a neurotic man who will make a bizarre journey to visit his mother.
The film will debut in U.S. theaters on April 21, 2023.
Plot: Beau is a good but extremely anxious man who has never known his father and has a difficult relationship with his mother, an overbearing woman. When the latter dies, he will embark on a difficult journey home, during which he will face absurd supernatural threats.
Also in the cast are Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Pattie Lupone, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Denis Ménochet, Hayley Squires, and Michael Gandolfini.
