The visionary and adrenaline-pumping Beau is afraid (USA - 2023), the new film produced, written and directed by Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar), will arrive in Italian theaters in April with I Wonder Pictures.
The film stars Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix (Masters of the Night, Joker), here as a paranoid and neurotic individual who must go on a jaw-dropping odyssey to get home to his mother.
Produced by A24, Beau is afraid (aka Beau is Afraid) was billed as a surreal horror comedy, a work that weaves mystery and black humor into a crazy, immersive journey.
Plot: Beau is a good but extremely anxious man who has never known his father and has a difficult relationship with his mother, an overbearing woman. When the latter dies, he will embark on a difficult journey home, during which he will face absurd supernatural threats.
Also in the cast are Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Pattie Lupone, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Denis Ménochet, Hayley Squires, and Michael Gandolfini.
