Baskin (Turkey - 2015), the Turkish horror film written and directed by Can Evrenol, will be released in U.S. theaters starting next March 25 through IFC Midnight. The date also coincides with the video-on-demand date.
Baskin is based on the short film of the same name directed by the same director in 2013 and deals with the descent to the underworld of a group of policemen, who, having passed through a trapdoor, find themselves in the middle of a black mass.
The film had its world premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival (Midnight Madness section), following which it was acquired by IFC Midnight, a label that handled the American distribution of the new Cabin Fever and other well-known horror films such as Babadook, Contracted and Maniac (remake). With Baskin, Can Evrenol received the "Best Director" award at the 2015 Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.
We at DarkVeins had the pleasure of reviewing it for the first time (for Italy) and interviewing the director.
