Following the success of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, comes another feature inspired by children's novels namely Bambi: The Reckoning, a horror movie inspired by "Bambi, A Life in the Woods" (1923), a literary work on which the '42 Disney classic is based. The film is part of the growing "Twisted Childhood Universe," dubbed the Poohniverse, which will also include the previously announced Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare and Pinocchio Unstrung.
Produced by Jagged Edge Productions, the indie production company of Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the director of Winnie Pooh: blood and honey, Bambi: The Reckoning is directed by Dan Allen (here directing his first feature film) on a screenplay by Felix Salten and Rhys Warrington.
It is scheduled for release in autumn 2024.
The story of Bambi: The Reckoning features a mother and son who, after being involved in a car accident, find themselves at the mercy of Bambi: a killer deer.
In the cast: Roxanne McKee, Nicola Wright, Samira Mighty, Russell Geoffrey Banks, Alex Cooke, Tom Mulheron, and Ewan Borthwick.
