August is a very enticing month in terms of horror releases at the cinema. In fact, several films on the genre will debut in theaters, some of them highly anticipated.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, the director of Lights Out - Terror in the Dark, Annabelle 2: Creation (USA - 2017) è il prequel di Annabelle (2014). Sandberg's film tackles the origins of the diabolical doll first introduced in the The Conjuring - The Conjuring.
We remember you that Annabelle is the first spin-off of the The Conjuring - The Conjuring (The franchise enjoys two other spin-offs viz. The Nun and The Crooked Man). The film arrives in our country distributed by Warner Bros. Italy.
Plot: Twenty years after the tragic death of their little girl, a doll maker (Anthony LaPaglia) and his wife (Miranda Otto) decide to host a nun (Stephanie Sigman) and a group of children from a dilapidated orphanage in their home. The presence of the guests, however, will annoy Annabelle, one of the dolls created and present there.

L'horror/drammatico Anguish (aka Anguish) marks the directorial debut of Sonny Mallhi, the producer of Shutter - Shadows from the Past, The Strangers, Old Boy (2013) e Beyond evil.
Anguish (USA - 2015) will land in Italian theaters on August 3 thanks to Twelve Entertainment.
Plot: Tess (Ryan Simpkins) is a teenager who, since childhood, has suffered from depression and behavioral disorders. Her pathology worsens when the girl moves with her mother to another small town where, years earlier, her peer Lucy was killed by a car. Between the two girls, the living and the dead, a mysterious and disturbing bond comes into being. For Lucy's spirit first invades Tess's mind and then takes over her body as well until she sinks into a dark and distressing abyss.

AUGUST 23.
Amityville - The Awakening (Amityville: The Awakening) is a demonic horror film written and directed by Franck Khalfoun (Maniac remake). This is the new sequel to the famous franchise Amityville, the first chapter of which is Amityville Horror (1979). The film will see the light of day in Italian theaters on August 23 distributed by Notorious Pictures.
Trama: Joan (Jennifer Jason Leigh) è una madre single che si trasferisce in una casa di Long Island insieme ai figli ovvero la piccola Juliet e i gemelli adolescenti Belle (Bella Thorne) e James (un ragazzo in stato comatoso). Nella nuova abitazione (che ha alle spalle un passato agghiacciante) inizieranno a manifestarsi strani fenomeni fra cui l'inaspettata e shockante guarigione di James (Cameron Monaghan).

AUGUST 30.
On August 30, Eagle Pictures brings to theaters. Open Water 3: Cage Dive, the found footage thriller/horror film. Directing this film about killer sharks is Gerald Rascionato who also wrote the screenplay.
Preceded by Drifting (Open Water 2), Open Water 3 - Cage Dive is the second sequel to Open Water (2003).
Plot: Three California friends take a trip to Australia to film their cage diving in white shark-infested waters. The purpose is to send the footage to Shark Cage Diving, an extreme reality show. However, the three tourists disappear along with their Australian friend without a trace. The police manage to shed light on the affair thanks to the discovery of their video camera.
