Il mese di agosto vede in programmazione tre film horror nei cinema italiani. L'atteso Lights Out - Terrore nel buio, about the creature that materializes in the dark, will debut in theaters on August 4. One crosses the threshold of witchcraft with The Witch which will arrive in our theaters on August 18 while to see a white shark in action in Paradise Beach - Dentro l'incubo, one must wait until August 25.
Instead, it skips the programming of Viral (the pest film) initially set for Aug. 10.

The August 4 Warner Bros. Pictures distributes. Lights Out - Terrore nel buio, l'horror scritto e diretto da David Sandberg e prodotto da James Wan. Il film è l’estensione cinematografica dell’omonimo cortometraggio (divenuto poi virale) diretto dallo stesso David Sandberg nel 2013.
Trama: Rebecca (Teresa Palmer) ha vissuto un'infanzia tormentata da paure e strane presenze. Divenuta maggiorenne, va via di casa sperando di lasciare dietro di sé tutti i timori che l’hanno traumatizzata da bambina. Adesso però anche il suo fratellino Martin manifesta i suoi stessi problemi: qualcosa prende forma e agisce solo al buio, quando le luci sono spente.

L'angosciante e diabolico The Witch will arrive in our cinemas on August 18 thanks to Universal Pictures. Written and directed by Robert Eggers, the film deals with witchcraft and in America has been supported by the Satanist organization founded by Lucien Greaves in 2013 and known by the name "The Satanic Temple."
Trama: New England, 1630. A causa di eventi nefasti, un contadino molto religioso è costretto ad abbandonare la sua piantagione e a spostarsi, insieme alla sua famiglia, in un altro terreno, considerato da molti un luogo sinistro. Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy), la figlia adolescente dell’uomo, viene accusata di stregoneria perché considerata la responsabile della morte degli animali e dell’appassimento delle colture...
The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Ellie Grainger, Lucas Dawson, and Julian Richings.
It will make its theatrical debut on August 25. Paradise Beach - Dentro l'incubo (aka The Shallows) thanks to Warner Bros. The white shark film is directed by Spaniard Jaume Collet-Serra, the director of The wax mask and Orphan while the screenplay is by Anthony Jaswinski (Vanishing on 7th Street, Kristy).
The film's protagonist is Nancy (Blake Lively), a surfer who reaches an isolated beach to surf but will be attacked by a white shark. The presence of the ferocious predator will make it almost impossible for her to reach the shore.
In addition to Blake Lively (Simon Says), the cast includes Óscar Jaenada, Brett Cullen and Sedona Legge.
