Via Twitter, director Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead) shared the poster for Army of Thieves, the prequel to his Army of The Dead, announcing that the film will be presented at Comic-Con@Home, the virtual edition of San Diego Comic-Con, which will be held from July 23 to 25.
Army of Thieves does not yet have an official release date but is expected to arrive on Netflix this fall. The film is directed by and stars Matthias Schweighöfer, the German actor who played the burglar Ludwig Dieter in Army of The Dead.
Set before the events of Army of the Dead And away from Las Vegas, Army of Thieves It is a prequel that seems to set aside the zombie apocalypse and therefore the living dead of the original film. The tagline on the poster reads “Fewer zombies. More safes.”.
The prequel story follows Dieter, a banker who is recruited to join a team of Interpol's most wanted criminals in an attempt to crack a series of impenetrable safes across Europe.
In the cast of Army of Thieves, in addition to Matthias Schweighöfer, are Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O. Fee, Jonathan Cohen, Guz Khan, Stuart Martin, Jonathan Cohen, Noemie Nakai, Peter Simonischek, and John Bubniak.
Zack Snyder developed the original story of Army of Thieves while Shay Hatten wrote the screenplay. The film is produced by Zack Snyder and Matthias Schweighöfer along with Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller and Dan Maag.
As a reminder, along with the prequel, the following will also arrive. Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, an animated series that will tell the origins of the character played by Dave Bautista in Army of The Dead. Zack Snyder will participate in the project by directing two episodes of the series.
