Director, screenwriter and producer James Wan will take over the production of the remake of Arachnophobia (aka Arachnophobia), the horror film directed by Frank Marshall in 1990.
In Marshall's film a deadly arachnid species from Venezuela sows death in California.
Plot of Arachnophobia (1990): il Dr. James Atherton (Julian Sands) raggiunge la foresta pluviale in Venezuela per scoprire nuove specie di insetti e di aracnidi. Qui si imbatte in una specie di ragno molto aggressiva e che decide di studiare. Uno dei ragni cha hanno suscitato interesse nel medico però si infila nello zaino del fotografo Jerry Manley (Mark L. Taylor) causandogli la morte. L'aracnide, finito nella cassa da morto insieme al cadavere, viene spedito in California. Qui riuscirà a riprodursi in un fienile del posto causando il decesso di molti abitanti del posto. Scoperta la causa delle morti improvvise, la gente chiederà aiuto a disinfestatore Delbert McClintock (John Goodman).
James Wan è noto per essere l'ideatore della saga Saw of which he directed the first chapter (Saw - L'enigmista) in 2004. In 2010 he started Insidious, another franchise of which he also directed Beyond the boundaries of evil: Insidious 2 while in 2013 he signed the direction of The Conjuring - The Conjuring and The Conjuring - The Enfield Case (2016), i primi due capitoli di un'altra saga di successo.
Wan is also the producer of Annabelle, the spin-off of The Conjuring - The Conjuring and also of The Nun, the spin-off of The Conjuring - The Enfield Case.
