Canceled release date set for Aug. 21 of Antebellum (USA - 2020), the horror film from the producers of Escape - Get Out e Us - We. The US release has been postponed to a date to be determined.
Written and directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz, Antebellum stars Janelle Monáe and Jena Malone (The Neon Demon, Nocturnal Animals).
Antebellum is built on two different time planes, with two stories that, although very different, are interconnected. The first features an African American woman just before the American War of Secession in 1861. Exploited as a slave in the cotton fields in 1860, she will suffer repeated violence at the hands of slaveholders.
Instead, the second story focuses on Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe), a successful author and career woman living in New York City. The year is 2020. She will find herself trapped in a terrifying reality and must shed light on the mystery surrounding her before it is too late.
But what does the slave girl and Veronica have in common?
In the cast of Antebellum also appear Gabourey Sidibe (Precious, American Horror Story), Kiersey Clemons, Eric Lange, Jack Huston, Robert Aramayo, Lily Cowles, Marque Richardson and Devyn A. Tyler.
The film is produced by Sean McKittrick (Escape: Get Out, Us), Raymond Mansfield (Escape: Get Out) and Zev Foreman (Killer Joe).
