It will be distributed in Italian theaters Anguish (aka Anguish), the horror/drama marking the directorial debut of Sonny Mallhi, the producer of Shutter - Shadows from the Past, The Strangers, Old Boy (2013) e Beyond evil. Described as "one of the best independent horror films of recent times" by Fangoria (which also rates it as one of the creepiest and most significant titles), this horror film halfway between Twin Peaks and The Exorcist will land in Italian theaters on August 3 thanks to Twelve Entertainment.
Anguish (USA - 2015) was presented as a film that, putting aside special effects, volume jumps and monsters, generates terror in the audience by focusing on an atmosphere that becomes increasingly dark and by staging visual inventions capable of triggering the feeling of fear in the viewer.
Plot: In a melancholy American province lives Tess (Ryan Simpkins), a teenager who, since childhood, has suffered from depression and behavioral disorders. Her pathology becomes more worrisome the moment the girl moves with her mother (with whom she has always had a conflictual relationship) to another town. Here, years earlier, her peer Lucy died when she was hit by a car. Inexplicably, a mysterious bond is forged between the two girls, the living and the dead. For Lucy's spirit first invades Tess's mind and then takes over her body as well until she slips into an unbearable tunnel of anguish.
