After the sequel to Night of the Living Dead, we return to the subject of George A. Romero's Amusement Park, film da lui stesso girato negli anni '70, tra The season of the witch and La città verrà distrutta all'alba And which was never distributed.
Amusement Park è un lungometraggio della durata di 60 minuti ed è un'aspra critica nei confronti delle istituzioni americane. La storia infatti affronta il tema dell'ageismo e presenta il modo in cui la società contemporanea tratta le persone anziane. Il film venne apparentemente girato per la TV ma poi, una volta realizzato, fu oscurato per "discriminazione di età”.
The recovery work was done recently by American best-selling writer Daniel Kraus (Trollhunters, The Shape of Water, The Living Dead) who, via his Twitter account, revealed that he had seen Amusement Park e di trovarlo "una rivelazione".
All'inizio di quest'anno Suzanne Desrocher-Romero, the wife of the late George Romero, had anticipated that a film shot by her husband in 1973 would be restored and distributed for all to see. It has now been confirmed that the film in question is indeed The Amusement Park.
Il mese scorso infatti ha rivelato questo: "Lo ripristineremo e lo mostreremo ai fan di Romero. È un film pauroso ma non è un film dell'orrore e riguarda l'età. Ad ogni modo, ha un cameo e sarà divertente. Sarà un progetto di cui si occuperà la fondazione".
Kraus in fact plans to recover funds through the George A. Romero Foundation for restoration work to then land it in movie theaters.
