Altergeist (USA - 2014) is the title of the supernatural thriller-horror written and directed by Tedi Sarafian, the screenwriter of Terminator 3 - The Rebel Machines and The Possession of Michael King and whose new film marks his directorial debut.
Presented at Cannes (2014) and other festivals (Fantastic Film Festival, Berlin Market...), the film will have its premiere on DirectTV on Oct. 8 while its distribution in U.S. theaters is yet to be ascertained.
The cast includes Kristina Anapau (Cursed, True Blood), Brendan Fletcher (Freddy vs. Jason), Alexis Cruz, Sarah Oh, Linsey Godfrey, Mark Hapka, Richard Sarafian, Jessica Spotts, Olivia Stuck, and David Weidoff.
Production was handled by Aaron Heck (Heck Art Studios) and John Negropontes.
King's Ransom Winery is considered the most haunted place in North America. A group of six paranormal investigators led by Theresa Augland, conducts a search at the site to investigate the strange and disturbing events that have been occurring there for years. As bleak, long-buried memories bubble to the surface, the group discovers to their horror that even ghosts fear a dark presence that has haunted the facility for generations.
For the film, director Tedi Sarafian and producer Aaron Heck were inspired by the "Korbel Champagne Cellars" winery in Guerneville, California, a place where terrible tragedies occurred.
