I Wonder Pictures has released the Italian trailer for Alpha, the new film by Julia Ducournau (Raw, Titane) to be released in Italian theaters on September 18.
Presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Alpha is a raw and powerful film rooted in the 1980s and the nightmare of pandemics.
With Alpha, Julia Ducournau continues to explore the human body, a carnal object, focusing on blood as the vehicle that transmits the deadly epidemic and thus AIDS with its social consequences, with the fear of needles and diversity. Thus the collective trauma becomes that of a family and a woman, mother and sister, who must come to terms with the past and hope for the possibility of a different future.
Plot: Alpha is a troubled 13-year-old girl who lives with her single mother. Their world collapses the day she returns from school with a strange tattoo on her arm.
The film stars Tahar Rahim (The Prophet), Golshifteh Farahani (Reading Lolita in Theran), Mélissa Boros, Emma McKay (Sex Education), Finnegan Oldfield (Vermines), and Louai El Amrousy.
