It will be titled Alien: Paradise Lost the sequel to Prometheus, the fantasy-horror film that Ridley Scott directed in 2012. The sequel will clarify several question marks from the first chapter including why the Engineers are responsible for human life on Earth and the reason behind their construction of biological weapons (the Xenomorphs).
According to Ridley Scott, the story of this first sequel will tie in with that of Prometheus providing a kind of continuity with the story.
The filming of Alien: Paradise Lost will begin in February, and a release date is expected by 2017. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender will reprise their respective roles, namely that of Dr. Shaw and the android David.
The director also stated that at Alien: Paradise Lost two more films will follow whose story will connect to that of Alien (1979).
