Among the first films to be featured in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival (Sept. 9-18) is After Blue (Dirty Paradise), sci-fi/fantasy horror written and directed by French director Bertrand Mandico.
The film's engaging teaser trailer peppered with glitter, blood, torture and neon lights has been shared.
TIFF described it as an "acidic sci-fi western/erotic."
Plot: In the distant future on a savage planet, Roxy, a lonely teenager, releases a criminal buried in the sand who begins to spread death. Found responsible, Roxy and her mother Zora are banished from their community and sentenced to hunt the killer. Soon they are wandering the uncharted territories of their filthy paradise, on a planet where only women can survive surrounded by flora and fauna.
