First details and images have been revealed for AD UMBRAS, the first short film written and directed by Antony Coia, composer and founder of TetroVideo, Goredrome Pictures, and Outronox.
Production on AD UMBRAS officially began on August 5, 2026, and is currently underway, with post-production scheduled to begin in September 2026.
Set in a cemetery, the film is a cosmic horror that blends the atmosphere of Italian Gothic cinema with Lovecraftian horror and the hallucinatory cosmic visions associated with the cinema of Panos Cosmatos. Dark, oppressive, otherworldly atmospheres combine with a heavy dose of gore and, of course, plenty of zombies, keeping the project firmly rooted in the spirit of old-school horror.
The original score will be created using analog instruments, primarily large analog synthesizers and electric guitars, following the tradition of synth-driven horror soundtracks associated with filmmakers and composers such as John Carpenter.
Coia stated: "I'm doing everything I can to make AD UMBRAS a directorial debut I can truly be proud of, and so far I'm extremely satisfied with the results. The atmosphere we're creating is absolutely insane, dark, oppressive, and deeply cinematic, and I believe old-school horror fans are going to love it".
The internal production process developed by OTX.LAB has now reached a level of quality and reliability that allows AD UMBRAS to be developed as a fully fledged film production, with visual standards fully in line with professional filmmaking.
The film is generated entirely through artificial intelligence using a fully local production workflow, running on privately controlled hardware and proprietary resources dedicated to the project, without relying on external data centers, AI services, or third-party cloud platforms.
Artificial intelligence is used exclusively as a filmmaking tool: the screenplay, direction, visual choices, editing, sound design, and music remain under direct human control throughout the entire production.
A crowdfunding campaign will also be launched for those who would like to support and contribute to the production of the film.
