Amazon Studios has just released the official trailer for Suspiria (Italy - 2018), the remake of Argento's masterpiece. Directed by Luca Guadagnino (Melissa P., Bigger Splash), this remake is thought of more as an homage to Dario Argento's famous film.
Suspiria will debut in U.S. theaters on Nov. 2 while the release date for our country remains unknown. The film will premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, which runs from August 29 to September 8, 2018.
Dakota Johnson plays Susie Bannion, an aspiring American ballerina who enrolls in the prestigious Berlin ballet school run by Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton), one of the institute's teachers. Soon after her arrival, however, a girl from the dance company mysteriously disappears. From that moment, Susie begins to suspect that the principal and the entire school harbor a disturbing secret.
The screenplay of Suspiria is signed by David Kajganich. The cast, in addition to Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey) and Tilda Swinton (Constantine, Only Lovers Survive), also includes Chloe Moretz (Blood Story, The Look of Satan - Carrie), Renée Soutendijk, Mia Goth, Sylvie Testud and Jessica Harper (Suspiria 1977)
Below is the official trailer for the remake-tribute in which the music is reminiscent of that of And you will live in terror! The afterlife by Lucio Fulci:
